FAQ and more useful info

Can the bed be used in any car?

We scan and design our platforms to fit your specific everyday car – whether it's a hatchback, SUV, or EV. Universal setups often waste space and don’t make full use of your trunk shape. We custom-fit everything to your vehicle so you get better storage, more comfort, and no awkward gaps.

How is the camping bed designed for storage efficiency?

You always have space under the bed – whether it’s folded or set up. The PRO version even gives you access to the subtrunk so you can keep your gear neatly packed away and still reach it anytime.

Is it easy to set up? Does it require any car modifications?

No tools or drilling into your car! The platforms come pre-assembled or flat-packed depending on the version, and they’re easy to install and remove in minutes. They fold up so you can use your rear seats too.

What’s the difference between PRO and CORE versions?

The PRO has more storage underneath, a lifting system for the subtrunk, and an optional bamboo table and drawer. CORE is a bit lower profile, lighter, and gives you more headroom — ideal for quick getaways and for people who often travel with passengers.

Can I use a fridge with the platform installed?

Yes. In the PRO, the design lets you access a fridge in the subtrunk without removing anything. The CORE version can be lifted up to get to your fridge too, just without a support mechanism.

What materials are used?

We use only certified, durable plywood. The surfaces are either eco-friendly bamboo or textured birch HPL – strong, long-lasting, and moisture-resistant.

Do you ship worldwide?

Yes! We ship from New Zealand, and we have free-trade agreements with many countries like the USA, EU, Canada, and Australia. This often means no import duty, but local taxes like VAT might still apply.

Do I need to remove the back seats?

No, most platforms fold into the trunk so your seats stay free for passengers. You don’t lose your daily car setup – it’s just there when you need it.

Can I store it away between trips?

Yes. You can take it out easily and store it flat in your garage or wardrobe. No tools needed.

Is it safe to sleep inside a car?

Yes. Unlike tents, a locked car keeps you protected from people and animals. It’s also windproof and sound-insulated – great for solo campers or women travelling alone.

Cons:

  • Takes time to pitch/take down

  • Climbing after a nice, relaxing evening with friends can be unsafe.
  • Can’t drive anywhere once you’ve set it up
  • Not ideal for windy conditions
  • Needs to be dried every morning to prevent mould.

Campervan

Buy or rent a van already set up for travel.

Pros:

  • All-in-one living space
  • Certified “self-contained” for legal camping in many regions
  • Ideal for long trips or working holiday visas

Cons:

  • Expensive ($60K–100K+ to buy, $150–300/day to rent)
  • Higher running costs (fuel, rego, maintenance)
  • Can’t really use it as your daily car
  • Feels like a commitment
